忍野村は、山梨県南都留郡（みなみつるぐん）の、周りを山に囲まれた盆地にある村です。

忍野八海（Springs of Mt. Fuji）
忍野（おしの）村には、富士山の雪解け水が美しく湧き出ている場所が幾つかあり、その湧き水によって作られる青く澄んだ泉が八箇所あることから、忍野八海と呼ばれています。
In Oshino Village are several places where meltwater from Mt. Fuji forms ponds after being filtered through lava and springs. The eight blue ponds of the crystal clear spring water are called Oshino Hakkai, literally meaning Oshino’s eight seas.
